I love a good cup of tea, especially in the afternoons and evenings. While I do love coffee, it doesn’t always agree with my stomach so I turn to tea more often than not. I recently stumbled upon this simple Coastal Fog Tea at a local farm store and I thought for sure I could make this at home. I’m sure it’s a made up name but I loved it considering said farm store is located by the ocean, and that it’s a spin off of my favorite tea the London Fog.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Easy to make
  • Can be made dairy-free
  • Sweeten it as much as you like
  • Great if you’re not into flavored tea

Ingredients

Black Tea – Use your favorite plain black tea, I like to use two tea bags for a nice hearty taste

Cinnamon – I like Vietnamese Cinnamon because it’s a bit sweeter, however regular cinnamon is just as good.

Vanilla Extract – Make sure you’re using pure vanilla extract

Milk – You can use your favorite milk, creamer, or non-dairy milk here. I like to use Nutpods as a non-dairy option.

Sugar – Regular granulated sugar

Cinnamon Sugar (Optional) – If you like a really cinnamon taste then this is a good idea.

Instructions

  1. Place two tea bags into a large mug and fill with 8 oz of boiling water. Steep the tea for 5-7 minutes, then remove the tea bags.
  2. To a small pitcher or measuring cup add the cinnamon, vanilla extract, and milk. Warm in the microwave for 30-40 seconds or until hot. Froth or stir to combine.
  3. Add 1-2 teaspoons of sugar to the tea and stir.
  4. Pour the frothed milk over the tea.
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or additional cinnamon if desired.

Recipe Tips

  • You can find the recipe for cinnamon sugar here.
  • I like to use two tea bags to help give the tea a nice flavor, one tea bag makes it weaker tea.
  • Place the tea bags into the cup before pouring the boiling water over it.
  • Cinnamon can be a strong flavor, you can start with the smaller quantity and add if needed. If you are adding cinnamon sugar to the top of the latte I would stay with the lesser amount.

Recipe Substitutions

You can use Earl Grey or English breakfast tea if desired

If you are dairy free consider a Non-dairy creamer or oat milk rather than plain almond milk.

  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Milk/Non-Dairy Milk
  • 1-2 tsp Sugar
  • Cinnamon Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Boil 1 cup of water.

Notes

Two tea bags give a nice strong flavor to the tea. If you want to use 1 tea bag reduce the amount of milk you are adding.
Start with the lesser amount of cinnamon as it can be overpowering for some and especially if you are topping the latte with cinnamon sugar or plain cinnamon. You can always add more if needed.
Maple syrup or a simple syrup and be substituted for the sugar. It will give it a smoother taste.
