Who I Am
Hey there, I’m Maria, a first generation Italian American who started cooking at a young age and has never stopped. My mother says my favorite toys growing up were pots and pans and that still rings true today. On the blog you will find some of my family’s favorite recipes, passed down from my Sicilian mother mixed in with some Neapolitan recipes from my dad who is from the island of Ischia. I’m a wife, mother of two, a food lover and a bit of a mini gardener. One of my family’s favorite recipes is this Simple Skillet Baked Pasta. I did use jarred sauce instead of letting homemade sauce simmer for hours to cut down on cook and prep time.
Are You A Sweets Lover?
I can’t pass up dessert so here you will find plenty of those. Even though I’m the only gluten-free person in my family, all the recipes get rave reviews from them before I share them here. The best thing though is that all my desserts can be adapted for regular baking. Some current favorites are theGluten-Free Cinnamon Bun Coffee Cake. I love this dessert because it’s easy to make gluten-free and dairy-free, and who doesn’t love a good simple coffee cake? Another favorite is the Gluten-Free Weekend Chocolate Cake, you cannot go wrong with chocolate. I love to use this a birthday cake, just add some sprinkles and candles. It’s perfect when it’s a small gathering and you don’t want tons of leftovers.
For The Explorer
Follow along on some of my travel adventures and pick up some tricks and tips along the way. I have traveled extensively throughout Europe, and love sharing all my travel knowledge. While there is not ton of information here yet, plan to see more in the future as travel starts to resume. Traveling has opened my eyes to so many different flavors and recipes that I want to share them here with you. Chances are if there is a local farmers market I will be exploring it and sharing the journey. Here is a picture of me with Italian hand gestures in Piazza Campo de´Fiori in Rome. You can read all about that trip in this postExploring Rome & Amalfi Coast. Fun fact for you, my favorite souvenirs to bring home are honey and salt.
